Sometimes getting started is the hardest part. With the challenges posed by COVID shutdowns shortly after the clients moved in, settling into their new space became a daunting task. In this project, our focus was on fully designing and decorating the main living areas of a stunning Diamond Run home.

This involved significant updates across the first floor, including fresh paint, new carpeting, and stylish furnishings. We collaborated closely with our clients to express their personal styles through carefully chosen colors, patterns, and textures.

This creative approach transformed the living room, dining room, and entryway, making the home feel uniquely theirs. Now, it’s an inviting space perfect for hosting friends and family.

The family room underwent a refreshing transformation with soft neutral paint, complementing the existing upholstery. By introducing a larger area rug, we reconfigured the layout to include an additional chair and updated accent pieces. Replacing more traditional pieces with new transitional styles, the overall feel of the room was nicely updated around their existing sofa and loveseat.

In the dining room, the homeowners opted to keep the existing color, allowing us to create a fresh design on a blank canvas. Inspiration struck with the extra-long buffet cabinet, leading us to explore rich textures and a blue-green color palette.

The soft curves of the turned table legs and the rounded chair backs work beautifully with the embroidered linen drapes, adding elegance without a stuffy feel. A contrasting woven fabric on the back of the chairs anchors the color scheme, enhancing the room’s overall aesthetic.

In the formal living room, the darker wall color beautifully complements the chair fabric, creating a moody atmosphere ideal for enjoying cocktails before dinner. A mix of traditional patterns of plaid, houndstooth, ogee, and chevron balances the modern shapes, resulting in a stylish transitional look.

Goals:

The primary goal of this project was to bring personal elements into the home and furnish the living and dining rooms. We also needed to provide paint colors for the first floor and new carpeting.

Challenges:

One of the biggest challenges we faced was finding the right mix of traditional and modern elements to bring a classic, updated feel to the home.

Solutions:

Establishing a mood with the conceptual design was key.  We offered revisions and options for furniture, allowing our clients to achieve a personalized look that reflected their style. Trusting the color decision in the living room while waiting for the furniture to be delivered took a leap of faith from the homeowners, as it was somewhat out of their comfort zone and a big change to a mostly unused room. Once the final delivery of furniture was completed, the design really came together. Now, with a functional and updated first floor, the house feels complete and distinctly personal.
